Learn about our research
Kitty Ireland Content Strategy publishes independent research on how public-service organizations maintain their web content. To do that, we collect a small sample of publicly available pages from a randomly selected group of organizations in each sector we study.
This is published research, not client work. The reports are free and open to anyone.
If you found this page in your server logs
Our crawler identifies itself as ContentDebtIndexBot/1.0 and links to this page.
If you'd rather we didn't visit your site, submit a request via our contact form, and we'll remove you from the sample. No explanation needed, and nothing about your site will appear in any report. You can also exclude us automatically by adding this to your robots.txt:
User-agent: ContentDebtIndexBot
Disallow: /
How we collect
Publicly accessible pages only. We never access logged-in areas, staff or member systems, or anything behind a form.
About 120 pages per site, at a maximum of one page every 1.5 seconds.
We honor robots.txt, including crawl-delay.
We collect no personal data and no user information of any kind.
We read pages. We never submit anything, and we never attempt to log in.
How results are published
Every finding is reported in aggregate. No organization is ever named alongside a score, a ranking, or a critical finding — not in the reports, not in a presentation, and not in a sales conversation. Organizations are named only as positive examples, and only with their written permission. Reports are linked from this page when complete.
We also exclude from our samples any organization we have an existing or pending relationship with, and we name those exclusions in each report's methodology.
